Having trouble?  Here are some frequently asked game-related questions to help you out.  If you have read the FAQs and are still none the wiser, get in touch and I'll do my bestest to help.  //

  • // Who made these games?

I, Paul Neave made all the games featured on Neave Games.  But I didn't make the original arcade games.  Those were made by many different people and video game companies ranging from Atari to Taito.  My versions are faithful recreations of the original arcade games, made from scratch using lots of coding jiggerypokery in Adobe Flash.

  • // It doesn't work when I click PLAY

Please make sure JavaScript is enabled and the latest Flash Player is installed.  I also recommend using a fast, modern web browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer.

  • // Can I play a game in full screen?

Yes, by clicking on the up arrow in the top-right corner of the game window (whilst playing), the game will start again in full screen mode.  You can also right-click (Mac owners control-click) and select the option "Start game in full screen" from the drop-down menu.  Make sure any pop-up blockers are disabled as this may prevent the full screen window from opening.

  • // How do I control a game?  What are 'arrow keys'?

Games can be played either with the mouse or arrow keys on the keyboard.  Games which use arrow keys are Asteroids, Frogger, Tetris N-Blox, Pac-Man, Snake and Space Invaders.  Arrow keys can be found in the lower-right part of your keyboard.  If you would prefer to play with different keys, you can use the following alternatives:

    Keyboard
    Up – W or  ’
    Down – S or /
    Left – A or Z
    Right – D or X

    Pause game – P
    Quit game – Q
    Mute sound – M
Fire or other – space key

All games also have the option to pause at any time by pressing the P key, mute the sound by pressing the M key or quit the game by pressing the Q key.

  • // How did N-Blox become Tetris® N-Blox™?

Originally, N-Blox was an unauthorised Tetris game.  However, pursuant to an agreement between myself and Tetris Holding, LLC, Tetris N-Blox is now an official Tetris version.  I have assigned Tetris Holding, LLC my legal copyrights and trademark, giving it 100% ownership of the game.  Fortunately, for you and other players currently enjoying Tetris N-Blox, the game will continue to be made available here as well as on Tetris Friends Online Games — enjoy!

  • // Do you own freetetris.org or freepacman.org?

No, although versions of games I personally developed are available on those sites, none of them are licensed by, affiliated with, or for that matter even endorsed by Neave Games.

  • // Can I add a game to my website/MySpace/Facebook profile page?

With the exception of Tetris N-Blox, you can copy and paste the HTML code found at the bottom of each game page or use the code found on Widgetbox to add a game to your website or profile page.  It should work if you have your own website or a page on MySpace or other social networking website.  The Tetris N-Blox HTML code is not available for use either on my website or through Widgetbox.

  • // Can I have my own high score table?

No, only one universal high score table is available.

  • // Can I download a game or have its source code?

Sorry, downloads and source code are not available for the games.

  • // Can you make a game for me?

No, I'm afraid I do not licence or make customised games.

  • // Can I link to your games?

Sure, please feel free to link to anything you to want to on Neave.com.

  • // Can I use a joystick or controller with the games?

Flash does not support joysticks or external controllers directly, but there are third party programs such as Xpadder that can allow you to connect a game controller or similar device.

  • // When are the high scores reset?

High scores for all games are reset at every midnight PST, which is 8am GMT.

  • // How do some people get such high scores?

They must be very clever.  Here's a video of one guy scoring 13 million in Tetris N-Blox and another person managed to score over 8500 on the Python level in Snake.

  • // Can I put the games onto my Joomla site?

With the exception of Tetris N-Blox, you can use a component called PUArcadeTetris N-Blox is not available for use within Joomla.

  • // Did you make the Arcade! Classic Arcade Pack?

I didn't create the software available on arcadeclassicpack.com or Openwares.org even though it features some of my games.  The author is called "Zobber" and I'd appreciate if you could put any questions about it to Openwares directly rather than to myself.

  • // Will you be making any more games?

I would love to, but due to the copyright problems I've had already I'm in no rush to make any more games soon.  If you have any suggestions for new games or ideas for improving the current ones, please send them in to me.

  • // What's with all the pink?

It's more magenta than pink.  And I think it looks very cool.  So there.
